James Anderson was born and raised in Livingston, Montana where he was exposed to fly fishing at a young age.  He tangled his way into his teens, when he really started to like fishing.  Having some big shoes to fill on the river and spring creeks, James started to appreciate the fishing environment and photography as much as the fishing.  James is now the guide booking manager at the shop.  He is his own outfitter #8969.  You can see his photos at

Josh Edwards – Josh grew up fishing the mountains of North Carolina and Virgina in his diapers. Once he was 14, he picked up a fly rod and has been searching for big fish in small, untargeted streames since.   Josh’s knowledge of “off the radar” streams is extensive, but plan on buying a 4 weight outfit from him first if you want more information.  We would say if he’s not in the shop you’ll see him on the water, but chances are you will never see him anywhere on the water unless you normally hike 12 mile days…

Eric Paulson – Eric grew up along the Kootenai River in Northern Idaho and came to Bozeman in ’89 to pursue college football at Montana State University. Overtime, Eric’s passion for fly-fishing lured him away from the field and into the water. Upon graduating college he began his career as fly-fishing guide for George Anderson’s Yellowstone Angler. Since then, he has been setting the bar when it comes to getting clients into BIG fish!  Eric Paulson 1721 Gateway South Road, Gallatin Gateway, MT 59730. Eric’s outfitter license is #6869.

Bob Berquist -Bob grew up as a missionary’s kid in southern India’s Palani Hills, fly fishing for trout and indigenous mahseer. While attending secondary school in England, he fished the chalk streams of England and the rivers and lochs of Scotland. His intimate knowledge of all our of our streams, rivers and private lakes is hard to come by, and anglers new or old to the sport are lucky to benefit from his insights.  Bob is his own outfitter: Bob Bergquist 38 Kindsfather Drive, Livingston, MT 59047.  Bob’s outfitter license is #9747.

Brian Sienkowski -Brian, a native of Wisconsin, has been fly fishing since the age of ten. He got his first job in a fly shop at the age of 16, and has worked in the business ever since.  Brian has been guiding for the Yellowstone angler for about a decade. His easy demeanor and laid back personality has made him a regular request by long time clients.  In the off season you will find “flying Brian” working ski patrol at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky.  Brian is his own outfitter: Brian Sienkowski 509 South Black #4 Bozeman, MT 59715. Brian’s outfitter license is #9967.

Hank Bechard – Born and raised in the Treasure State, Hank grew up fishing the waters around his hometown, Great Falls. After working in the shop for a few years Hank became one of our core guides here at the shop.  He fishes almost more than anyone and has an intimate knowledge of the Yellowstone, Madison and Gallatin rivers.  Hank is his own outfitter  Henry R. Bechard, 671 Green Tree Dr. Belgrade, MT 59714. His outfitter license is #10368.

Dave Bryan – Growing up in TX, Dave learned how to fly fish for bass and bluegill.  Not far from the gulf, Dave also developed his love for saltwater fishing. Dave has lived in Montana now for over 20 years and has become an expert angler on technical tail waters and spring creeks, but the Yellowstone River is his real bread and butter. He can match up with any client who is willing to listen and learn, from beginners to experts.  His positive attitude makes any day on the river into an epic fishing adventure. Dave guides under Outfitter Jeff Blatter, 3168 Tumbleweed, Bzn, MT 59715.  Jeff’s Outfitter Licence is #8375.

Marcus Mcguire headed west, attending college at Montana State University, graduating with a BA in photography and business.  If you catch a trophy trout with Marcus (which there is a very good chance), rest assured that he’ll get some awesome shots of you and your fish!   Marcus enjoys fishing year round and is one of the best at rowing hard all day to put you into fish.  Marcus guides under outfitter James Anderson,  209 South 7th St, Livingston, MT 59047. His outfitter license is #8969.

Doug Mcknight – After being the guide bookings manager at the shop for several years, Doug knows what it takes for clients to have a great experience on that water. For over 15 years Doug has been taking people fishing for a living. He began tying flies commercially as a youngster and has taught fly tying lessons since he was 18 – (so you may have a few “secret” weapons in the boat). In the Fall of 2005, Umpqua Feather Merchants added Doug to their list of fly tying designers.  Doug’s Outfitter is Henry R. Bechard 671 Green Tree Dr. Belgrade, MT 59714. Henry’s outfitter license is #10368.
