Still plenty of stoneflies out there...

Take a closer look at the rocks along the edge of the water and you’ll notice plenty of stonefly shucks.  The nymphs crawl out at night and hatch into the adults (one reason you don’t see many adults around at night).  If you’re lucky enough to catch one of these adults you’ll notice it’s slightly darker (and slightly bigger) than a goldenstone.  We call them brownstones but we’re not sure what the official name is.  We know one thing however, the official flies to represent them are Chubby Chernobyl dries with a Pat’s rubber leg as your dropper…
