Paradise Valley Spring Creeks

Midges continue to be the main food source out on the creeks.  The biggest issue has been the wind blowing them off the water as soon as their emergence begins.  When the dry fly fishing slows down, we’ve been fishing with size 18 grey/olive scuds as well as a bighorn style pink sow bug (which probably taken for an egg).  A black leadeye is a great fly for coaxing those big Nelson browns to come out from under the logs.   All we ask is that anglers de-barb their streamers to make it easier on the fish.  While you will still need 5 or 6X for technical nymphing or dries, you can get away with 2X for streamers right now.
